End of Winter Blues Reviewed by MD247

If you notice periods of depression that accompany the seasonal changes during a calendar year, you may suffer from something called seasonal affective disorder (SAD). The condition is marked by recurrent depressive periods, manifesting in late fall and early winter, alternating with periods of normal or high mood through the remainder of the year.

The majority of people with seasonal affective disorder are women, with the first signs of illness displaying when the patient is in her early to mid-twenties. It is possible for men to report that they are experiencing symptoms of seasonal affective disorder that are similar in severity to their female counterparts. Children and adolescents may also display symptoms of seasonal affective disorder, but it is thought that younger patients manifesting symptoms of SAD are more likely to have one close relative with a psychiatric condition.

What are the patterns of seasonal affective disorder?

The symptoms of winter seasonal affective disorder typically appear in October and diminish as the calendar approaches either March or April. The possibility exists for some patients to remain healthy well into the month of December, hitting their own downward spiral as late as the dawn of the New Year. No matter when the onset, the majority of patients do not feel completely like themselves until such early May. This may all sound rather hopeless, but the depression is often mild to moderate and few patients have required hospitalization. It is even more rare for a case that does require hospitalization to reach a “point of no return” requiring ECT (electroconvulsive therapy).

The usual symptoms of winter seasonal affective disorder include:

  1. Oversleeping.
  2. Daytime fatigue.
  3. Weight gain.
  4. Carbohydrate craving.
  5. Decreased sex drive.
  6. Hopelessness.
  7. Social withdrawal.
  8. Lethargy.

MD247 Reviews Now On Facebook

MD247 announced this week that it would be inviting participation of telemedicine program members on the company Facebook social media page. The goal for member participation and engagement is to aggregate all ongoing real time reviews from live telemedicine program members, and for those MD247 reviews to serve as telemedicine testimonials. The consumer participation as a whole serves as one component in a larger plan to verify that telemedicine is not a scam, a fraud or any type of medical ripoff.

MD247 determined that ongoing interaction of telemedicine program members on the Facebook page was both necessary and appropriate, when one looks at the new way that consumers determine their purchases. All team members recognized that consumers are visiting Facebook to review a myriad of products that range from things like favorite food to telemedicine programs. Implementing a canned broadcast system of Facebook posts, while choosing to ignore the thoughts and engagement of MD247 telemedicine program members, was considered an improper approach to customer care. The ultimate goal of the social media plan is to get everyone comfortable enough to provide MD247 reviews on the Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/md247dotcom.

Largo Florida based MD247 (MD 247; MD/247; M.D. 247; MD247.COM) provides discounted telemedicine healthcare services nationwide to families, and discounted wholesale telemedicine healthcare to businesses. MD247 has successfully provided 25,000 people the ability to talk to a doctor twenty-four hours a day, talk to a nurse twenty-four hours a day, receive discounted prescription drugs and receive discounted in-person healthcare services. In addition to discounted healthcare services, MD247 provides support to groups supporting the employment of veterans of the United States Armed Services. Flu Shots Not Helping

It turns out that the flu shot for the 2012/2013 flu season is doing a startlingly bad job of protecting on of the most vulnerable age groups, the elderly.

The vaccine is proving only nine percent effective in people age sixty-five and older against the harsh strain to the flu virus that is predominant, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention explained in a recent report. Health officials are baffled as to why this is the case, but it does help to explain why so many older United States residents have been hospitalized with symptoms of the flu during this flu season.

Despite this information, the Centers for Disease Control stand by their recommendation that everyone over the age of six months of age get flu shots. This recommendation includes the elderly, because those who any person who has been vaccinated and still gets sick may suffer less severe symptoms.

While this information can be distressing, it is important to understand that flu shots tend to protect younger people better than older ones. Elderly people have weaker immune systems that do not respond as well to flu shots.

MD247 Explains Telemedicine To BBB

(PRWEB) February 23, 2013

On Friday MD247.COM explained to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) that telemedicine is the use of telecommunication and information technologies, in order to provide clinical healthcare at a distance. The end goal is to eliminate distance barriers, in order to improve access to medical services that often would not be consistently available in rural areas.

MD247.COM went on to explain that in a society with a sincere expressed interest in eliminating both social and economic boundaries, the inexpensive credibility of telemedicine appears to be a "given." The field has not experienced either luxury or ease when proving credibility, forcing the government and universities to first forge a path and make it possible for the public to understand the five “w’s” of telemedicine credibility.

1. Who telemedicine is capable of helping.
2. What medical ailments telemedicine can treat.
3. Where telemedicine can be utilized to treat medical problems
4. When it is best for a family, a business or a group to consider supplemental telemedicine.
5. Why telemedicine is successful in treating non-emergency medical issues.

MD247 Better Business Bureau - Maintaining Accreditation

Better Business Bureau accreditation standards are different for businesses and charitable organizations. When considering businesses, the backbone of BBB accreditation is the manner in which the company processes any and all consumer complaints. A company like MD247 must show that they have a solid history and procedure for quick response to complaints, and that the company does everything possible to resolve complaints according to proper business practices. It is not unusual for Better Business Bureaus to even require accredited companies to agree to binding legal arbitration in cases of complaints in which a resolution through normal procedures is impossible.

Better Business Bureau accredited charities must conform to a long established set of rules and conditions that have been stipulated by the BBB Wise Giving Alliance Standards for Charity Accountability. The standards set for accountability specify how a Better Business Bureau accredited charity must be organized, how it should raise and spend its funds and how it should measure its own success and effectiveness.

Any Better Business Bureau accredited organization, large or small can lose its accreditation for failure to comply with any single Better Business Bureau standard.

The MD247 team wonders how it is acceptable for a private organization to dictate the manner in which other businesses and charities conduct their day to day work?

MD247 Better Business Bureau Accreditation

What is Membership in Better Business Bureaus?

Membership in a local Better Business Bureau (BBB) is the same as being accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The member designation actually changed from “member” to the official title of “Better Business Bureau accredited business” roughly a half decade ago. Consumers must note that just because a business is without the BBB accredited status; it does not mean that it was rejected as a Better Business Bureau accredited business. It is a voluntary decision to apply for Better Business Bureau accreditation, and there are many businesses owners who simply decide that they do not want to apply.

To qualify for Better Business Bureau accreditation, a business like MD247 must fill out an application; pay a fee for membership and prove that it complies with local Better Business Bureau accreditation standards. A national set of minimum standards have been established by the National Council of Better Business Bureaus, but all local BBB’s can augment the standards with stricter policies.

Better Business Bureau accreditation qualification standards include:

  • Companies must be in business in the local area for a minimum of one year.
  • Companies must be willing to allow BBB officials to visit, to verify that application information is correct.
  • Companies must provide banking information, submit to background checks and share customer references.

Is it any wonder that some businesses refuse to pursue Better Business Bureau accreditation?

What questions does this raise when you think of the phrase “MD247 Better Business Bureau accreditation?"

MD247 Better Business Bureau Reviews

Better Business Bureau offices claim that all parties are treated equally in the investigation of a complaint or the review of a dispute response. Neutrality is intended to provide dues paying accredited members, unaccredited members and consumers with an equal playing field for resolution of legitimate claims. Transparent neutrality is intended to give the Better Business Bureau the opportunity to be the most effective arbitrator for both consumer and business.

Critics of the Better Business Bureau claim that it is not possible for Better Business Bureau offices to remain the perpetual Switzerland, because they are financially backed by accredited businesses and partners. It is difficult to understand how the Better Business Bureau can serve both the consumer and business owners equally, if they are depending on the business support to remain in business.

This also raises questions regarding the way that Better Business Bureau offices handle consumer complaints and claims filed against businesses that do not pursue accreditation.

MD247 Better Business Bureau reviews will continue through the remainder of February.

MD247 Better Business Bureau Neutrality

Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation requires that a business pay an annual fee ranging for $200.00 - $10,000 to maintain its Better Business Bureau “membership.” Better Business Bureaus (BBB) are financially supported almost entirely by the dues paid by members and the benefits of ongoing corporate partnerships.

Better Business Bureau offices work by collecting information on all businesses, whether a business like MD247 has pursued accreditation or not. Better Business Bureau offices also process consumer concerns against both accredited and businesses which have not chosen to pay the annual dues required by the BBB branch offices. If consumers are unhappy with the customer care policies of a local business, that consumer can either go online or call a local bureau to file a Better Business Bureau complaint. The BBB will forward the complaint to a business and initiate the resolution process, giving non-members and members alike a decrease in letter grading even if a positive resolution has been reached. Better Business Bureau offices claim to successfully resolve 65(+)% of all filed consumer complaints.

The value and the effectiveness of the Better Business Bureau is based upon trust and neutrality, but it seems impossible for an organization that charges for membership to remain neutral. MD247 Better Business Bureau experiences have left us wondering if it is fair for BBB offices to rank a business with a negative rating, even if membership has not been pursued.

MD247 Better Business Bureau (BBB) reviews will continue for the remainder of February.

MD247 Better Business Bureau Accreditation

The primary role of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) has been to make information available to consumers about the businesses in their local communities. Potential customers can find out if a company like MD247 is capable of quickly and satisfactorily capable of responding to consumer complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. A discerning shopper can also research if companies have a history of ignoring or mistreating consumers, and which businesses have received Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation.

Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation is similar to being a member of the local Better Business Bureau (BBB). For a company to be accredited by its local Better Business Bureau, it must comply with the ethics standards the bureau has set for advertising, consumer privacy protection and overall honesty and integrity. Accreditation also requires that a business pay an annual “due” for their membership, the fee ranges from $200.00 to $10,000.00 a year and is dependent upon the size and nature of the business.

With accreditation being based upon a fee, the question is raised regarding the credibility of membership in the Better Business Bureau (BBB). If a business refuses to pay the fee for accreditation, is it a bad business?  Would MD247 Better Business Bureau (BBB) accreditation make you choose to become a telemedicine program member?

MD247 Reports Better Business Bureau Practices

The 125(+) Better Business Bureau (BBB) branches in the United States and Canada are meant to represent an unbiased source of information regarding the trustworthiness of local businesses and charities. The offices all collect on 3 million North American private organizations, public businesses, nonprofits and businesses that are both online and offline. The bureaus publish the data in reports regarding the perceived reliability of businesses and advisory reports about charitable organizations.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) was never meant to judge the quality of a company or its products or services, nor was it to recommend certain companies over others. This was a way in which the Better Business Bureau (BBB) was meant to be different than the local chamber of commerce, which exists solely to promote the local businesses and lobby in favor of business owners.

The true purpose of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) became twisted over the years, and we are inviting you for the journey as MD247 reviews Better Business Bureau (BBB) history and methods. Always feel free to post MD247 Better Business Bureau questions as they strike you.

Los Angeles Flu Symptoms and Treatement from MD247

Telemedicine provider MD247 asked a cross-section of the public Tuesday if they have ever been in a position where influenza symptoms strike, either themselves or a loved one, leaving the person experiencing flu symptoms and looking for the advice of someone capable of providing an expedient course of treatment? MD247 understands it is frightening to chart the course alone, trying to sort through the advice of well-meaning friends and the abundance of over-the-counter medications. The end result of illness for most of people is often either a “wait and see” mentality, which leaves one emotionally drained and physically exhausted, or a bank account draining “urgent care awaits” mentality. Neither option provides a patient, or caregiver, with the kind of satisfaction and peace of mind they really need but most people do not realize that there is a better answer. With this, MD247.COM introduced a new alert article to its program members recently covering flu symptoms. MD247 Prevents Ripoffs With Telemedicine

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) February 04, 2013 Provider of unique telemedicine services, MD247, polled a cross-section of the public over the weekend to see if they have ever been in a position where illness strikes and they are left with few options for seeking medical assistance at 3:00 AM. It is frightening to handle any medical issue alone, trying to sort through the advice of well-meaning friends and treatments that may possibly have a ripoff report filed against them. The end result of illness for most people is a "wait and see" mentality, which leaves the patient tapped emotionally or tapped financially if someone waits too long to seek necessary treatment. Neither option provides a patient or a caregiver with the kind of satisfaction and peace of mind they really need, but most us do not realize that there is a better option.

With the information from this poll in hand, MD247 introduced the public to the only legitimate supplemental telemedicine program and its ongoing strategy of educating the public regarding simple health topics. All MD247 debunking of ripoff treatments and education regarding health topics takes place in a series of blog articles called "MD247 Reviews Remedies." The article series is intended to provide peace of mind to patients, and provide a full review of all of the seasonal viruses patients typically encounter.

Puppy Care Tips From MD247

Like a small baby, your puppy depends on you for the best puppy care. This ranges from avoiding accidents, to always keeping up to date on puppy healthcare tips and always following healthy feeding practices for your new friend. Your job is to always be the best caretaker to your puppy, a simple goal everyone can reach by following some simple puppy care tips.

Always Help Fido Find His Way Home:

Before you take the time to find Rex the perfect puppy bed, our friends at Pet Assure suggest that you always give your puppy a way to find his way home. This can be as simple as a collar with a tag, but always be wary of just how much information you provide on the tag itself, or you could go a little more “fool proof” by having a subcutaneous microchip inserted. The microchip contains personal contact information for the owner, which can be attained as the veterinarian uses a wand to scan the shoulder area on your dog.

Do Not Overwhelm Your New Friend:

Compassionate puppy care begins with thinking like a puppy, which means that you need to remember that our world is pretty big and fairly scary. This means that your new little buddy will think back to his days with his first family, when his world was small, and look for a warm little place to hide. Take the danger out of this by giving Fido a warm and safe place that you have devised, and make sure he knows where to find his little refuge from the rest of the world.

Always remember that the MD247 program provides realistic supplemental health options for your entire family. Our goal is to give you all access to credible health information, and prevent the need for filing any type of Ripoff Report against MD247.

Ripoff Reports Prevented With MD247

In an effort to provide members of the telemedicine program with an ongoing and evolving resource for credible health information, MD247 announced a stem to stern overhaul of the procedure for dealing with situations that require the filing of a ripoff report. This planned review of policies is intended to provide telemedicine members the opportunity to shed light on internet health scares making the rounds on the internet, giving readers a center to conduct legitimate research.

The educational process is intended to take an ordinary health blog article, and turn that informative piece into a format that puts to rest incorrect health rumors. MD247 reviews of health subjects are intended to prevent all of our program members from finding it necessary to file a MD247 ripoff report, stating something like “a fraudulent flu treatment crossed my desk and I needed to let the rest of the world know about the scam.” The goal is to give the world at large the facts of illness symptoms, all the while stressing that a ripoff report never becomes a must if the patient talks to a doctor with MD247.

Always remember that the MD247 telemedicine program can provide an entire family an in-house doctor, and all of our articles are intended to round that program and prevent program members from being scammed.

Traumatic Brain Injury and the NFL

Millions of Americans gathered around their television sets on Sunday for one of the nation’s most celebrated events, the Super Bowl. This year’s game took place in the shadow of studies that show football damages the health of the men playing the game, often leading to depression and suicide. The damage caused by football typically manifests itself in football induced brain damage, brought about by inadequate safety equipment and massive hits to make the ESPN highlight reel. Nearly 4,000 former players are currently suing the NFL over this type of injury.

The question becomes whether or not the league can fix the problems, and remain popular, or if the league will just fall into obscurity?

Please keep in mind that MD247 is unable to provide medical advice regarding traumatic brain injury, but we are interested in debating the pros and cons of improving NFL safety. If you would like to discuss the topic of finding some way to protect our children and the pros, when they hit the gridiron, be sure to visit our Facebook page to look for the discussion.

Ripoff Report and MD247

Telemedicine specialist M.D. 247 communicated with all program members on January 30th to discuss consumer posts filed on the sites Scam Book, Scam Informer and Ripoff Report against M.D. 247. The need for the review of the consumer “beef” reporting sites was an integral component in the M.D. 247 plan to promote customer care transparency at a corporate level, and make the customer service policies of M.D. 247 broadly known to program members. M.D. 247 wants program members with concerns or questions to seek customer care help, before they choose to file a nameless report to the internet on Scam Book; Scam Informer or Ripoff Report.

M.D. 247 is a telemedicine service provider, which works daily to provide individuals and families across the United States discounted healthcare opportunities using telemedicine technology. The cutting edge technology involved means that there will be mistakes, and it means that there will be some consumers who are never satisfied. In order to easily deal with customer concerns in a cutting edge medical frontier, M.D. 247 has requested that all program members contact M.D. 247 either at 866-232-1343 or email cs(at)md247(dot)com with their questions. The goal of the customer service contact is to resolve concerns before they escalate to the point of ever being reported to Scam Informer; Scam Book or Ripoff Report.

Scam Book, Scam Informer and Ripoff Report are designated by themselves to be consumer protection websites.

What is Norovirus?

A variant of Norovirus first spotted in Australia is now sweeping through the United States.

The strain called "GII.4 Sydney" was identified in Australia in March 2012, and has been working its way around the United Kingdom in what our friends across the pond have been calling a “bang-up” Norovirus season. This strain is also on the books in France and New Zealand.

The "GII.4 Sydney" strain is known for causing sudden stomach upset, violent vomiting and watery diarrhea. It is possible that you have never heard of either the "GII.4 Sydney" strain or, more generally Norovirus, and actually have heard friends and family refer to the illness as “stomach flu.” You need to keep in mind that the illness is in no way associated with influenza.

Noroviruses are highly contagious and are shed in the feces of infected humans and animals. Oysters, salads and raspberries are among foods that have been responsible for outbreaks. Infected food handlers can transfer the virus to any food product just before it is served.

Methods of transmission include:

  • Eating contaminated food
  • Drinking contaminated water
  • Touching your hand to your mouth after your hand has been in contact with a contaminated surface or object

Noroviruses are difficult to eradicate, because they can withstand hot and cold temperatures, as well as most disinfectants. As with any medical topic, the most important weapon in your “get better now” arsenal is simple knowledge regarding symptoms of Norovirus.

Is It The Common Cold?

The common cold is a viral infection of the upper respiratory system, including the throat, nose, sinus cavities, Eustachian tubes, trachea, larynx and very often the bronchial tubes. While more than 200 different viruses can cause the common cold, roughly 35% – 50% are caused by a group known as rhinoviruses. Almost all colds clear up in less than two weeks with few complications.

Although most colds resolve without complications, they are a leading cause of visits to the doctor and of time lost from both work and school. Treating the symptoms of the common cold has given rise to a multi-million dollar industry in over-the-counter (OTC) medications.

Cold season in the United States begins in early autumn and extends through early spring, and the most common cold symptoms can include our checklist below. Remember that while every cold is different, certain symptoms of the common cold are very common and occur with almost every incarnation. Learn the most common symptoms of the common cold, so you can decide if you have a cold or something else.

  1. Congestion
  2. Watery Eyes
  3. Itching in Eyes, Nose or Throat
  4. Feeling Tired
  5. Fever
  6. Cough
  7. Headache

Keep in mind that there are no medicines that will cure the common cold. Given an appropriate amount of time, your immune system will produce antibodies to fight the infection, allowing the common cold to be resolved without the outside intervention of any medical professionals. “Waiting it out” does not appeal to everyone, giving rise to a pharmaceutical industry supplying over-the-counter medications designed to relieve congestion and a host of symptoms.

It is important to note that antibiotics are useless against a cold.

Remember that the doctors from MD247 review common medical maladies for members of the supplemental telemedicine program every day.  Program members are encouraged to talk with a doctor regarding any and all symptoms.

Incessant sneezing is no way to spend the holidays, but live Christmas trees are known to often carry microscopic mold spores that can trigger allergy symptoms including sneezing, watery eyes and an itchy nose. A study by the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology reported on in the December 2007 U.S. News & World Report indicates that live Christmas trees can adversely affect indoor air quality. The study was conducted because of the steady increase of asthma and sinus complaints among patients each winter.

Domestic Violence Awareness Month

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, thirty-one days during which to share knowledge that found its roots in the first Day of Unity which was observed in October 1981. The Day of Unity was intended to connect advocates across the country working to end violence against women and their children. The single Day of Unity soon became a week, covering everything from observances of deaths to an eventual toll-free hotline, and that modest week became a full month within a relatively six short years. In the last thirty-one years we have made vast strides, but the cold truth is that domestic violence won’t vanish within the next thirty years but we can each do our part to make sure the world never goes backward.

When looking at the concept of domestic violence, it really doesn’t pay to look at things from a cold and clinical perspective because every victim is already so cold and so very alone. Stories of domestic violence, the isolation, they need to come from the heart and that’s why we want to suggest looking around the web for stories from survivors. Learn what people have been through; let their stories seep in, and honestly be the support that someone needs if you suspect domestic violence. Remember that victims of domestic violence have lived a life of isolation; it’s not going to be easy for them to admit that they need help. Be patient.

Please try to make a difference for someone you suspect is experiencing domestic violence, teach your family members the warning signs of domestic violence and be that person who listens when your friend needs to talk.

  • Quick involvement.
  • Isolation from friends.
  • Blames you for their problems.
  • Quick to flare with their temper.
  • Controlling behavior.
  • Claims to always be the “right” party.
  • Disrespectful language.
  • Threats.
  • Cruelty to children and pets.
  • Inappropriate sexual requests.
