MEAT Without RICE!?

The old acronym for sports injury treatment, RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation), is known by many. What To Do When Your Dog Has A Cold

Dogs can contract viral infections that cause symptoms like the common cold. Common symptoms related to the viral infection include lethargy, runny nose, watery eyes, coughing and possibly sneezing. Though a trip to the veterinarian may become necessary to treat the infection with antibiotics, often these respiratory illnesses can be treated with supportive care at home. Providing your pet with the rest and the nutritional support to get over the cold is the best care you can provide.

  • Provide your dog with as much food and water as it wants while it is not feeling well. It is important that the dog's body has the energy to fight off the viral infection. They need a lot of water to avoid dehydration.
  • Watch for signs of dehydration in your dog. Buy a sports drink, or electrolyte mix to add to their water and replace fluids that they may be losing to increased mucus production. Check with your veterinarian to make sure the ingredients are safe for your dog.
  • Give your dog warm broth if it acts uninterested if you find that it is not interested in dry food. This will provide your dog some caloric intake, and will be soothing to both its stomach and its throat. The heat may also help to clear excess mucus from the dog's airway.
  • Put the dog in the bathroom with the hot water running in the shower for about 10 minutes. This will moisten the mucus passages and may make the dog's cough more productive, helping break up the congestion in his lungs and airways.

If your dog shows no improvement after two weeks, it should be taken to see their regular veterinarian.

Back To School Flu Symptoms Hit Press

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) August 13, 2012

MD247.COM Founder Thomas Meehan announced that the telemedicine provider would be spending the remainder of August reviewing health issues related to the impending return of its youngest members to school. Articles covered will include MD247.COM reviews of flu symptoms, proper personal hygiene tips and potentially some discussion of the vaccination process.

Articles will be made available on the traditional MD247.COM telemedicine website, the “MD247.COM Reviews” website and the “MD247.COM Scam” website. The end goal of the half-month focus is to make simple symptom information easily accessible, while also prodding program members away from the potential scams they may encounter trying to keep everyone “healthy.” All MD247.COM program members are encouraged to use the blog articles as a supplement, and always call the 24/7 “talk to a nurse” hotline with questions that are non-emergency in nature. All emergency calls must go through 911, local doctors or any medical professional the family chooses to use as MD247.COM does not handle emergency medical treatment.

MD247.COM additionally invites any interested medical professional to submit an article in a “blog share” process, by which the telemedicine provider hopes to provide medical professionals an additional blog in which to publish their advice. Medical professionals interested in participating in a “blog share” are encouraged to submit an email to the MD247.COM Social Media Manager at michelle@md247.com.

Elect Romney 2012 Invited To MD247.COM

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) August 09, 2012

On August 08, 2012 Thomas Meehan of MD247.COM invited the “Elect Romney 2012” to tour the Largo Florida based supplemental telemedicine provider during the 2012 Republican National Convention. The invitation was extended as a response to the recent “I built my business” campaign, and to provide the “Elect Romney 2012” team the opportunity to learn more about the benefits of telemedicine.

“Mr. President, I built my business” has been a familiar refrain since President Barack Obama made an inflammatory speech in Roanoke Virginia earlier in July. The Roanoke speech suggested that most business owners, if not all business owners, owe the success of their business to government investment in local and national infrastructure as well as other areas. Needless to say, businesses like the telemedicine provider MD247.COM found little to like about the assertion that they did not build their business from the ground up. Reverence for the history of the office of President aside, Thomas Meehan has voiced a sincere concern that President Barack Obama is in no way engaged with small business owners across the United States.

If the “Elect Romney 2012” team is unable to tour the MD247.COM offices, Meehan indicated that any/all delegates with proper credentials are welcome to contact MD247.COM for a tour of a business the government did NOT build. Anyone interested in setting up a tour can contact the MD247.COM team at mgermann(at)md247(dot)com.

Telehealth Expands MNT Therapy

Telehealth Expands MNT Therapy
According to the Indian Health Service’s (IHS) OIT June newsletter, five of the six leading causes of death among American Indian and Alaska Native (AI/AN) people are nutrition-related. Unfortunately, most AI/AN communities do not have adequate access to nutrition services.

Telehealth is providing a new service model for healthcare facilities to help AI/AN increase access to Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and Diabetes Self-Management Education (DSME). Individual and group telenutrition services as well as DSME are reimbursable services through Medicare for patients with diabetes, end-stage kidney disease, or patients that have received a kidney transplant. Medicare Part B covers individuals and groups diagnosed with non-dialysis kidney disease.

Since 2006, the IHS Telenutrition Program has been providing nationwide individual and groups MNT and other nutrition services using video-conferencing to IHS and tribal facilities. Diane Phillips, IHS Telenutrition Program Director with the Native American Cardiology Program was one of the first registered dietitians in the IHS to deliver MNT services in real-time.

The telenutrition program has provided access to nutrition services to over 1500 patients plus provided over 150 hours of nutrition training to community-based diabetes outreach workers and fitness instructors.

Using telenutirition is strengthening partnerships with tribes and at the same time improving quality and access. Also, telenutrition provides a source of revenue and has been documented in research and at IHS/Tribal health facilities to be well accepted by patients, has proven to be equally effective as in-person encounters, and has been used effectively to expand training to reach isolated and rural providers.

Who Calls Me From This Number - MD247.COM

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) July 26, 2012

MD247.COM Founder Thomas Meehan announced that the provider of supplemental telemedicine services was kicking-off an initiative to improve its visibility with sites like “who calls me from this number.”

Every person reading this has received a phone call from an unknown telephone number, a blocked telephone number or an unwanted telephone number and found that they were filled with a sense of insatiable curiosity. Working in a telemarketing setting, selling supplemental telemedicine services, MD247.COM reviews situations like this quite frequently in an effort to prevent curiosity from leading to situations in which the field appears to be a ripoff.

Meehan explained that MD247.COM transparency will be improved through the consistent creation of content for the MD247.COM Reviews website, the MD247.COM Scam website and the traditional MD247.COM website. All potential telemedicine program members receiving a call from MD247.COM are encouraged to submit questions as well as reviews to all of the associated websites.

The end goal of the MD247.COM “improved visibility” initiative is to reduce the number of people who view telemedicine as a ripoff requiring a person to become a scam informer.

Largo Florida based MD247.COM (MD247; MD/247; MD 247; M.D.247; MD-247) provides an affordable telemedicine supplement to existing healthcare services. MD247.COM telemedicine program members have unlimited telephone access to a nationwide medical support team, all with just a single phone call to the MD247.COM telemedicine Talk to a Doctor/Talk to a Nurse Hotline. MD247.COM has a virtual platoon of registered nurses; board certified physicians and a support staff available to members for all non-emergency situations. More information about MD247.COM is available online at http://www.md247.com.

MD247.COM Reviews Social Media Strategy

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) July 25, 2012

In an unusual statement to the press, Thomas Meehan explained that the members of his “talk to a doctor” telemedicine staff have charted a new direction for all social media and blogs for the service provider. One of the first social media accounts to be affected by the change is the MD247.COM blog tool Blog.com.

Meehan explained that the shifts in approach have been a practice on the MD247.COM social media accounts since the beginning. Finding a voice in and amongst the 5,000 “web based fix me now” doctor sites is a difficult task and, in order to step out of the shadow, Meehan made the unprecedented move of changing the social media approach to one which incorporates more of what people want . This translates to MD247.COM existing as one of a select few Blog.com accounts encouraging real open discussion regarding current political and economic topics.

The MD247 Social Media Curator has been given the authority to allow polite discussion of topics like national healthcare; the election and the realities of national unemployment rates. She advised that conservatives, liberals, independents, libertarians and all other interested individuals are welcome to conduct polite discussion. The MD247 Blog.com account can be located at http://md247.blog.com/.

When the team behind MD247.COM reviews results in ninety days, they predict that there will be fewer incidents in which a scam informer claims MD247.COM requires a ripoff report.

Customer Service Like Wal-Mart

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) July 25, 2012

“The goal as a company is to have customer service that is not just the best but legendary.”

~ Sam Walton

It is atypical for a company to directly correlate links between itself and a large retail merchant like Wal-Mart, but recent MD247.COM reviews forced the telemedicine company to do as such.

On July 24, 2012 MD247.COM Founder Thomas Meehan announced that the provider of supplemental telemedicine healthcare services would be embarking on a journey to transform its customer care into something rather epic in scope. The end goal is to alter and modify MD247.COM customer service as much as possible, in order to make it into the telemedicine equivalent of the “customer is always right” policies that all patrons of Wal-Mart expect.

The amendment to current customer service policies was the result of recent MD247.COM reviews on websites like Ripoff Report, Scam Informer and Scam Book. In order to give customers an option that goes beyond the consumer protection website, and give these same members the opportunity for real first-person service, MD247.COM created two new customer care oriented websites specifically designed for education and MD247.COM reviews. Additional information about the sites entitled “MD247.COM Scam” and “MD247.COM Reviews” can be found by visiting the original MD247.COM telemedicine website.

In addition to the addition of two customer care websites, MD247.COM reviews have led to voluntary customer care oriented changes internally at the MD247.COM headquarters.

The site is simply intended to give real people an opportunity to become informed about any potential problems, long before they feel the need to become a scam informer or write a scam book.

MD247.COM Reviews will always be allowed to appear as the author intended the curator of the site only requests that language be kept workplace appropriate and anonymity must remain at a minimum. MD247.COM Scam Website Discusses Validity Of Telemedicine

We'd like to "introduce" you to the launch of our new MD247.COM scam discussion website, which was designed as a resource for consumers to ask if telemedicine is a "scam" and to learn more about the field of telemedicine.  Take a look at the welcome text, and please be sure to post your questions as soon as the site is live!

= = = =

Every online business has had the displeasure of dealing with the abundance of “consumer protection” websites, as well as the legitimate product and business review websites. Each website has its own set of rules regarding the ability of the reviewers to anonymously report the positives and negatives about both products, and experiences with physical businesses. All “consumer protection” sites, as well as even legitimate review sites, prevent business owners from positively resolving consumer concerns without a heavy ransom.

Rather than simply pay $7,000.00 to a “scam” report website, for the removal of customer inquiries, MD247.COM developed a website for concerned consumers to submit directly to MD247.COM scam questions regarding the validity of telemedicine. The site is intended to give real people the opportunity to get a real response regarding their questions, and kick the predatory practices of sites like Ripoff Report; Scam Informer and Scam Book in the seat of their pants.

Check back frequently, because we will soon be launching the software which will let you post your “is this a scam” style questions and you will be able to read our simple health tips too!

Online businesses are used abundantly by review websites across the internet. Each site has its own unique set of rules regarding the ability of reviewers to anonymously post regarding both products and experiences, but all “consumer protection websites” prevent businesses from positively resolving customer inquiries. MD247.COM decided to throw a monkey wrench in the works, thumbing our nose at Scam Informer; Ripoff Report and Scam Book by allowing consumers to enter their MD247.COM reviews on this site directly. The ultimate goal is to build a machine, by which MD247.COM reviews from consumers can be shared alongside blog articles discussing telemedicine and simple health topics.

This site is for you, our program members, please feel free to enter your MD247.COM reviews once the site is completely launched.

MD247.COM Reviews Telemedicine In Blog Campaign

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) July 19, 2012

The phrase “snake oil” is a derogatory term used to describe either fraudulent or unproven medical practices, and has been synonymous with the field of telemedicine. MD247.COM Founder Thomas Meehan appreciates that distrust and caution act as the parents of security, but he is not comfortable standing idle while a respectable field that can help supplement health is scorned. Rather than just holding his tongue, allowing the public to slowly warm to the idea of medicine paired with advanced technology, Meehan and MD247.COM launched a wide-scale educational blogging campaign on Wednesday.

The MD247.COM educational blogging campaign was launched on the company website, and is then scheduled to be filtered through several blogging accounts assigned to the company. The goal of the campaign is to allow MD247.COM reviews of specific ideas behind telemedicine, health tips and even general interest articles about the company to form a picture of the telemedical field for readers. It is Meehan’s desire to take the people who see telemedicine as a ripoff report incident, and allow them to see that there is no need to be a scam informer.

In addition to a campaign to build understanding of telemedicine through MD247.COM reviews of telemedical topics, the company is also conducting a wide scale hunt for additional competent writers. Meehan prefers that the writers have an interest in medical topics, but he is willing to consider anyone with a talent for the written word.

MD247.COM Practices Converting Skeptics to Telemedicine Advocates

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) July 18, 2012

It is often felt that in a field plagued with ripoff reports, scam informers and a general sense of distrust it is difficult to convert a skeptic into a telemedicine advocate. The forces responsible for the security blanket “talk to a doctor” MD247.COM service take this negativity as a matter of perception, and prefer to rise to the challenge. MD247.COM is proud to announce it has taken a unique educational approach, blending proven business practices with social networking platforms and a common sense “this is how a telemedical service can help you” method for blogging.

The result of mixing the tried and true marketing techniques with a constant flow of content has taken a landscape of consumers with ripoff reports, and converted them into either advocates for telemedicine or well-informed non-members. Potential telemedicine program members no longer feel the need to be a scam informer first, and an informed consumer after they have had the opportunity to peruse consumer protection websites first. The company, in a way, takes people back to a time before everyone needed to be concerned that every product to cross their email box was a scam.

The company intends to transform its educational program as new supplemental programs are added under the umbrella of services offered by MD247.COM. No matter the product, MD247.COM reviews everything considered as a service and verifies that there will be no need for a future ripoff report or a need for someone to act as a scam informer.

Largo Florida based MD247.COM (MD247; MD/247; MD 247; M.D.247; MD-247) provides an affordable telemedicine supplement to existing healthcare services. A Bit About MD247

The health care frontier in the United States over the last fifty years has been illustrated by soaring fees for services, increasing expenses accrued by doctors and a predisposition toward excluding participants with preexisting medical conditions. In short, the health of our greatest national asset became a matter of Russian roulette due to a simple matter of cash.

Defined with a broad stroke, telemedicine is the delivery of healthcare service or transmission of health and wellness information using telecommunication technology.

MD247 was established to eliminate our collective epidemic of a demographic group age 24 – 64 either outright lacking health care coverage, or possessing a minimal amount of health care coverage which quickly builds out of pocket expenses. The mechanism for delivery of a large scale affordable supplemental health care option could only be viable utilizing the technologies associated with telemedicine, and therein a company capable of serving the minor and major medical needs of 50,000 families was born.

MD247 works on foundation of strict in-house client servicing, refusing to allow its family of regular clients to be forced into tense calls with outsourced workers. This attention to providing a “real” face to the 15,000 families joining MD247 each week, also allows for a fascinating and airtight set of on-site personal data protection practices.

None of these ideas would be possible without the strong hand of MD247 Founder Thomas Meehan “at the rudder” of this health care ship. Meehan’s twenty-five years in private business have provided him the unique opportunity to design a business model that protects customers. Firsthand customer interaction also opened his mind to the true necessity for supplemental telemedical health care.

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) June 27, 2012

Concierge Telemedicine? Concierge Telehealth? Telemedicine? Telehealth? The management team responsible for the innovative MD247 supplementary telemedicine healthcare program has heard ever skeptical uttering of keywords associated with the telemedicine industry. In an effort to both battle the skeptics, and work in conjunction with fellow industry professionals, MD247 Founder Thomas Meehan issued an announcement to invite Tampa doctors to explore the possibility of blog exchanges commencing in July 2012.

The idea behind the blog exchange is to take a Tampa doctor/Tampa nurse who currently maintains a blog, or actively participates as a writer for a blog as a guest writer, and introduce that writer to the loyal readers on the MD247 website and social media accounts. The MD247 team of writers would then be responsible for providing the guest author an article drafted from the MD247 telemedicine perspective for his or her own website, blog or social media account.

Meehan invites all interested writers to contact MD247 telemedicine at mgermann@md247.com, with the subject line “Blog exchange,” to indicate their interest in learning more about the innovative approach to sharing industry information.

MD247 Blogs To Hit Facebook

Tampa Florida (PRWEB) June 18, 2012

On Monday June 18th, the MD247 Social Media Team announced that it would officially be carrying all telemedicine blog articles typically run on the website http://md247.com/md247-blog.html. All MD247 blogs had previously been featured on the sites SocialNetgate, Blog.com, Blogger, LiveJournal, Posterous, Tumblr and TypePad.

A blog is a discussion, or information site published on the internet consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order so the most recent post appears first. Until 2009 blogs were usually the work of a single individual, occasionally of a small group, and often were themed on a single subject. Many blogs provide commentary on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries; yet still others function more as online brand advertising of a particular individual or company. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability of readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual.

The MD247 telemedicine blog discuses all things related to telemedicine, as well as general health and wellness issues.

Telemedicine connects doctor and patient at any time, on any day of the week, across the miles and from home or work and any other location. The doctor’s office is really all of time and space.

Arsenic and Old Lace - an Allegory in Favor of Telemedicine

“Mortimer Brew…” – Mortimer Brewster in Arsenic and Old Lace

Telemedicine Available To Tampa Bay From MD247

Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 18, 2012 Thomas Meehan announced on Monday morning that the leading Florida provider of supplemental telemedicine healthcare was “prepared to decrease overall healthcare expenses through the application of telemedicine.”

Thomas Meehan explained that there is a reported 46 million people in the United States without healthcare insurance, beyond the minimum level of emergency room care provided by a 1968 federal law. Meehan explained the law actually causes increases in healthcare expenses across the board, with participating hospitals forcing the expense of free care into other treatment areas.

His contention was that there needs to be a middle ground, or area of compromise, by which the non-emergency medical situations could be treated outside the confines of traditional medical care. MD247 is prepared to offer a viable option, first to residents of the State of Florida, through the use and application of unique medical services at a distance using telecommunications technology. The medical process is called “telemedicine,” and Florida residents are encouraged to learn more by visiting the new and easily navigable MD247 website at http://www.md247.com.

Meehan invites residents of the Tampa Bay area to contact MD247, and request an in-person meeting to discuss both the positive aspects and the negative aspects associated with telemedicine. The discussion is set to include information regarding potential overall decreases to the expenses incurred by the insured, potential applications for telemedicine and how it is possible to become an advocate for healthcare change.

Michigan Puts Telemedicine Within Reach

In a victory for citizens nationwide, the Michigan State Senate passed legislation on June 5th to specify that healthcare insurance providers could not require in-person contact between a doctor and a patient for services appropriately provided through telemedicine. This piece of legislation allows patients to be reimbursed through the healthcare policy.  The Senate action followed earlier action taken by the Michigan House. Of particular note is that the services that are covered under this legislation are already covered under Medicaid, making it common sense that they were made available to private insurers as well.

The nationwide victory is simply that patients in rural areas often live quite a distance from the local hospital, and this legislation will ensure that they receive high quality healthcare without burden.

A Relationship With The Doctor

We can all agree that people are very often nervous when they talk to a doctor.

It isn’t paranoia to feel like your doctor is intentionally choosing to pay attention ONLY to your written chart.

It’s also a sad reality that respect for the patient, and their value in society, is an idea that is long lost in medicine.

Medicine has changed a lot over the last twenty-five years. The culture in the Emergency Room, the clinic and many other urgent care centers has changed from a world in which treatment just occurred based upon symptoms. It was replaced with a system of more regulations, a frontier of lawsuits and a disconnection from the idea that each and every patient is a person. In short, cash became king due to the high cost of doing business.

Telemedicine is the remote diagnosis and treatment of patients using telecommunications technology, and it has the ability to eliminate the overhead associated with the practice of modern medicine. This is overcome by the practice being conducted in a way that allows the doctor to eliminate the middleman, and connect directly with the person who is ill. Telemedicine effectively takes the issues of nervousness, perceived paranoia and profound feelings of disrespect and tells both doctors and patients to “stop worrying and just do what you do best.”

Telemedicine connects doctor and patient at any time, on any day of the week, across the miles and from home or work and any other location. The doctor’s office is really all of time and space.

More information about the way that telemedicine works, and how it ALWAYS give a patient the opportunity to talk to a doctor can be found on http://www.md247.com! We encourage anyone looking for a supplemental healthcare option to consider the MD247 telemedicine program.

Patient Doctor Trust

It’s a nearly universal experience. You talk to a doctor, yet you’re sure that they didn’t listen or chose not to hear what you were saying. This isn’t paranoia. The doctor really probably didn’t hear what you said. The question is, “why” didn’t the doctor choose to listen during your discussion?

In an earlier article in this

Talk To A Doctor

Are you ever nervous, impatient or a little frightened when you talk to a doctor in his office?

Do you ever feel like you’re rushed when you talk to a doctor, possibly forgetting some of your own questions?

It’s true that visits to a doctor’s office often result in moments where we ask ourselves if a doctor “heard” what you said, or if the doctor really listened. The cold reality is that an appointment to talk to a doctor often leads nowhere for a patient, aside from a sense of frustration and potential sadness. The real question is “why” does this happen so frequently or, even more importantly, “why” this is allowed to happen at all?

The simple reality of the situation is that doctors, the people who are meant to “do no harm,” are under an increasingly tremendous amount of pressure to see patient after patient each day. Both waiting rooms and examination rooms serve as cattle holding pens, “comfortably” maintaining the human stock that a doctor desperately needs to cover for the high overhead and low reimbursement fees. It’s a bureaucracy built on the expense of actually doing what they love.

The system of high debt load, massive expense to do business and the realities of insurance reimbursement develop a medical frontier where having a chance to talk to a doctor for more than a few seconds is a dream.

MD247 has a way to solve this with the use of telemedicine, but the idea of expense being the only problem everyone encounters when they try to talk to a doctor is ridiculous. Be sure to follow our series on this topic.

Questions About Heart Attack Symptoms?

In a drastic move to protect the health and wellness of our MD247 telemedicine program members, we issued an official retraction of our March 26, 2012 nationally distributed press release. The retracted health and wellness oriented press release was entitled “Telemedicine Specialist MD247.COM Provides Female Program Members with Information about Heart Attack Symptoms.”

The March 26, 2012 press release detailed the medical symptoms a woman might experience when suffering a heart attack, and it was meant to serve as an informative and direction providing guide for female readers. The MD247 telemedicine team determined that it was preferable to have program members contact the 24/7 Talk to a Doctor Hotline, or the 24/7 Talk to a Nurse Hotline to discuss non-emergency medical questions regarding potential cardiac symptoms.

MD247 reminds all readers that the telemedicine program is unable to address medical emergency questions, and any/all such questions must be directed toward local immediate emergency assistance.

The telemedicine services MD247 provides are meant to serve as a “supplement” or “enhancing” agent for traditional healthcare policies. MD247 telemedicine is never meant to serve as a replacement for ANY traditional healthcare policy.

MD247 Telemedicine Deal Continues

MD247.COM Founder Thomas Meehan alerted national media on this week regarding the continuation of the first in a series of telemedicine specials which are available exclusively on the MD247 telemedicine social media Facebook business page.

The specials discussed by Meehan have the official tag “Deal of the Day,” and represent extreme savings that the discounted healthcare provider will be making available to new MD247 telemedicine program members. The extended first “Deal of the Day” is a ninety day (three month) membership in the MD247.COM telemedicine program for a fee of only $29.95, which is a total savings of 50% off of normal program prices. The telemedicine provider is making it possible for people seeking supplemental healthcare options to talk to a doctor for a significantly discounted rate, when one compares it to the $80.00(+) cash payment required when visiting an Urgent Care Clinic. Meehan indicated that the “Deal of the Day” was designed to put money back in the economy and, if that made it necessary for the MD247 telemedicine program to operate at a loss on the specials, then that was what the company would need to do.

The extended first MD247 “Deal of the Day” goes live again at http://www.facebook.com/md247dotcom on May 29th, and will only be available to interested parties who visit the Facebook page to retrieve the MD247 telemedicine sales hotline number. The telemedicine sales hotline number being provided on May 29th will differ from all other MD247 sales call lines, meaning it must be used in order to redeem the special pricing.

MD247 Founder Thomas Meehan also reminded all potential MD247 telemedicine program members, that the services MD247 provides are meant to serve as a “supplement” or “enhancing” agent for healthcare. MD247 telemedicine is never meant to serve as a replacement for ANY traditional healthcare policy.
